The Mission
Munich-based OroraTech is developing a constellation of nano-satellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings and many other applications. After our FOREST-1 mission (launched in Jan. 2022) and FOREST-2 (launch in June 2023), the next step is to scale the production and launch the first constellation plane of 8 systems and more in the future. We are looking for talented engineers to support us with the integration and testing of our cameras and spacecraft, putting together structure parts, electronics, PCBs, and optical parts. They will be joining a very motivated and highly enthusiastic team of experts in the fields of mechanical, optics, electronics, spacecraft, and software engineering.
What you’ll be doing
As an Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) engineer you will:

  • Play a key role in the integration of all subsystems into a satellite before launching it.
  • Plan and perform the satellite's on-ground test campaigns (vibration, thermal, vacuum).
  • Prepare integration procedures and documentation.
  • Mechanical (SolidWorks), electrical (Altium), and optical design of support equipment.
  • Prototyping of mechanical and electrical designs using our laboratories.
  • Cooperate with the other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software) to improve and scale up the production of payloads and satellites.
Relevant Skills
  • Technical degree (not a must) or comparable qualification.
  • Skilled handling of small mechanical parts and electronics.
  • Highly organized and structured way of working in the laboratories and clean rooms.
  • Proactive attitude to problem solving while safeguarding high quality standards.
  • Fluent in English and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in CAD software and/or electronic design is a plus.
  • Experience in space tests and qualification standards is a plus.

Das Münchner Unternehmen OroraTech entwickelt eine Konstellation von Nanosatelliten mit thermischen Infrarotkameras für die Erkennung von Waldbränden, für Unwetterwarnungen und viele andere Anwendungen. Nach unseren Missionen FOREST-1 (Start im Januar 2022) und FOREST-2 (Start im Juni 2023) arbeiten wir nun daran, eine vollständige Orbitebene mit acht Systemen zu starten, sowie die Satellitenplattform der nächsten Generation FOREST-3 zu integrieren. Wir suchen talentierte Ingenieure, die uns bei der Integration und Prüfung unserer Kameras und Raumfahrzeuge unterstützen, indem sie Strukturteile, Elektronik, Leiterplatten und optische Teile zusammensetzen. Du wirst Teil eines motivierten und begeisterten Teams von Experten in den Bereichen Mechanik, Optik, Elektronik, Raumfahrt und Softwaretechnik.

Was erwartet Dich?

Als Mitglied des Teams Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) wirst Du:

  • Komponenten und Subsysteme unserer Raumflug-Hardware zusammenbauen.

  • Teilsysteme, Kabel und Ausklappmechanismen herstellen und testen.

  • Weltraum-Umgebungs-Tests (Vibration, Temperatur, Vakuum) für unsere Satelliten planen, vorbereiten und durchführen.

  • Integrations-Prozeduren und Dokumentationen erstellen

  • mechanisches (SolidWorks), elektrisches (Altium), und optische Hilfsgeräte entwerfen.

  • mechanische und elektrische Prototypen in unserer Werkstatt fertigen.

  • mit anderen Disziplinen (Struktur, Elektronik, Software) zusammenarbeiten, um das Design der Satelliten zu verbessern.

  • die letzte Person sein, die den integrierten Satelliten in der Hand hält, bevor dieser von unseren Startanbietern auf der Rakete montiert wird.

Was erwarten wir von Dir?
  • Geschickter Umgang mit mechanischen Kleinteilen und Elektronik.

  • Organisierte und strukturierte Arbeitsweise in den Laboren und Reinräumen.

  • Proaktive Einstellung zur Problemlösung unter Wahrung hoher Qualitätsstandards.

  • Elementare Englisch-Sprachkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift.

  • Erfahrung mit CAD-Software und/oder elektronischem Design ist von Vorteil.

  • Erfahrung mit Weltraum-Tests und Qualifikationsstandards ist von Vorteil.
