The Mission
Munich-based OroraTech is developing a constellation of nano-satellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings and many other applications. Following the successful launches of our FOREST-1 mission in January 2022 and FOREST-2 in June 2023, we are launching our next satellite, FOREST-3 beginning of 2025, which includes an in-house developed payload and BUS. In the same year our first satellite plane, OTC-P1, as well as our newly designed 16U satellite, GENA-OT, will be launched.
The next step is to improve our satellite design based on all the learnings we have gained and scale up our production to extend our satellite constellation.
We are looking for a talented, hands-on engineer to support us with the design and testing of the new generation of our satellites and payloads. You will be joining a very motivated and highly enthusiastic team of experts in the fields of mechanical, optics, electronics, spacecraft, and software engineering.
What you’ll be doing
As a Mechanical engineer you will:
Take lead responsibility for the mechanical structure within individual satellite or payload projects, such as developing mounting structures for subsystems or optical components, deployment mechanisms, or even an entire satellite.
Be involved in all aspects of mechanical design, from initial concept to part designs, assemblies, production drawing generation, and manufacturing orders.
Design components for upcoming satellite missions, testing, and ground support.
Perform hands-on prototyping, both with 3D printed and metal parts, including conducting first assemblies and debugging, to improve your mechanical design.
Work closely with our AIT team during development phases and assist with the assembly, integration, and testing of flight hardware.
Participate in design reviews, from the concept level down to individual parts.
Plan and assist mechanical test campaigns for the satellite and its subsystems, including functional and vibration tests.
We Offer
At OroraTech you can expect a down to earth, yet high-caliber work environment. You will be part of the OroraTech team - a talented, international, open-minded team that is highly motivated to create impact. OroraTech gives you the opportunity to grow on a professional and personal level. Benefits include:
Be part of the solution to climate change.
Attractive office and lab in Munich (obviously including free snacks/drinks/coffee).
Flexible working time. Take care of your family? Late sleeper? Early riser? Prefer to work from outside from time to time? We can make all of that happen.
A responsible position with individual autonomy and design freedom.
