The Mission
Munich-based OroraTech is developing a constellation of nano-satellites equipped with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection, severe weather warnings and various other applications. The technical foundation includes the three successful precursor missions: FOREST-1 (launched 2022), FOREST-2 (2023), and FOREST-3 (Jan 2025), OTC P2.
Following this path, we are now seeking talented engineers to help ramp up the batch production of satellites for the second, third, and subsequent orbital planes based on our in-house platform design. Your responsibilities will include designing and conducting integrations, tests, and calibrations of our optical instruments and satellite platforms. You will join a highly motivated and enthusiastic team of experts in mechanical, optical, electronic, aerospace, and software engineering.
What you’ll be doing
As an Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) engineer you will:
Play a key role in the integration and testing of all subsystems in the satellites.
Be one of the last individuals to touch the systems before launching them into space.
Plan and perform the satellite's on-ground test campaigns, including vibration, thermal, and vacuum tests.
Prepare integration procedures and test documentation according to industry standards.
Contribute to mechanical (SolidWorks), electrical (Altium), and/or optical designs.
Prototype mechanical and electrical parts using our laboratories.
Collaborate with experts from other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software, optics) to improve and scale up production.
Relevant Skills
Technical degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
Skilled in handling small mechanical parts and electronic systems.
Proven hands-on experience with mechanical tools, machines, or equipment.
Highly organized and structured approach to working in laboratories and clean rooms.
Proactive attitude towards problem-solving while maintaining high-quality standards.
Basic experience in mechanical design using CAD software.
Ability to communicate fluently in English with an international team.
Additionally, the following skills are optional but beneficial for the role:
Experience in rapid prototyping, e.g., 3D printing or laser-cutting.
Basic programming skills, e.g., scripting-level Python.
Experience in electronics design or testing.
Experience with space tests and qualification standards.
